Rostec to start tests of PD-35 high-thrust aircraft engine in 2024

MOSCOW, Dec 27 (PRIME) -- Russian state nuclear power corporation Rostec plans to start test of the national high-thrust aircraft engine PD-35 in 2024, First Deputy CEO Vladimir Artyakov told PRIME on Monday.

“The government earmarked the money to prepare pilot production and organize a necessary testbed for PD-35. National aviation has never had engines of such scale and thrust power. Its application sphere is wide-bodied long-range aircraft, for instance, the Russian–Chinese CR-929 aircraft and heavy transport aircraft. We plan to start testbed trails in 2024,” he said.

Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said earlier in December that certification of the engine was scheduled for 2027.
